Re: Prominent Heathen Arrested

JBK always seemed honorable folk. They were friendly enough in person, and I never really had any issue with them online, either. As long as you do your homework, read the lore, and attempt to understand things before asking other people to explain them to you they have been more than wiling to be h...

Re: Recon?

Oh, now that is just infuriating. Monotheists all seem to be absolutely convinced of their moral superiority, despite the fact that they are often the aggressors trampling all over others' rights! I read an article a while ago that really started getting my gears to turn, so to speak. The guy who wr...

Re: Recon?

Yes, in the US they have more power than even our constitution should allow. Our pledge of allegiance still mentions god (even though the original didn't and there have been countless petitions to change it back) and its even written on our currency even though our motto should be e plurbis unum not...

Re: Recon?

Bloodless? What about the atrocities committed by Olaf the Lawbreaker, that dirty christian coward who forced fed Raud a live snake, put hot embers on Eyvind's stomach until his body burst, cut out Guthroth's tongue, ect.? In Iceland I know there's a story about how they converted fairly 'peacefully...

Re: Curses

That does sound familiar, I remember that. I didn't know what it was called though. I know in the same saga a girl accidentally cursed herself by carving runes wrong, too, and egil fixed the curse with runes of his own now that I think of it.

Re: Recon?

Lol build froth ... that sounds nasty. Apparently my phone doesn't like the word 'frith.' I am slowly building its heathen vocabulary though! I just wish I could figure out how to do diacritical marks. At any rate, I think the crux of the issue here is what we consider recon to be. What you guys cal...

Re: Recon?

The ones I speak of were ones I'd known in person. I have a certain disdain for internet relationships - I don't mean that in a romantic sense - I think to really be able to build froth and understand a person you've got to know them. I mostly come to the internet for debate, it gives me a lot to th...

Re: Curses

I don't honestly know much about them. I know there are mentionings of gullveig cursing people and I think I remember a vague reference to a seidhkona laying some kind of curse using malrunar but that's it. What's the nidstang one you speak of? Do you have a source where I could read up on it?

Re: Homeopathy

Wow ... I'd never heard of that, but I am sad that I have now, lol. I clicked on it because I thought homeopathy just meant home remedies like herbs, meditation, or asanas. This is just depressing, though I guess I have heard worse ... though not by much lol

Re: Patron gods

Freyja was the one who called me to heathery to start with. Before I understood she was a goddess, I liked her image and personality and she was my role model so to speak. She is the one I feel most connected too.
