Re: Patron gods

Yeah, you see that with most traditional styles. Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai and Ju Jitsu are taking over. There's nothing wrong with those styles, but there's a lot missing from those that are offered in other various forms.

Re: Patron gods

Nice! A very rough, aggressive style. The teacher who taught me Northern Shaolin also took that form. I've thought it was essential for a balance between soft and hard forms, Northern Shaolin being the more graceful style while something like Boxing or Krav Maga being a more aggressive style. Has go...

Re: Patron gods

I've done various forms of Kung Fu like Northern Shaolin, several different Animal Styles, Kenpo, Western Boxing, Krav Maga. Northern Shaolin was my most "formal" style, as I was taught by a master. But, I have family members who have trained in martial arts and I learned most from them :)

Re: MEAD

Well most forms of alcohol have a very pleasant, inviting sound to the name. But, if I made it anything like that, I'd feel like I was lying xD "Shit-that-will-get-you-smashed" seems to be the best idea

Re: Heathen tattoos

I have The Triple Horn of Odin as well, on my left shoulder. It's my only tattoo for now, and I really love it. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it :)

Re: Ancestors

I'm a mix of Northern European ancestry, like Norwegian, German, Scotch/Irish. I also believe there's a tiny bit of Native American thrown in there. Anyways, I got the Norse symbol "The Triple Horn of Odin" tattooed on my left shoulder. I got that to honor my ancestors. Inntil Neste Gang -...

Re: Patron gods

I'm probably too inexperienced in Heathenry just yet to decide upon a patron God. As a martial artist, writer and general "wisdom-seeker", I'd like to think Odin would be my patron God, although I'm far from that decision just yet. :)

Re: MEAD

One of my favorite bands, "Amon Amarth" made a video that's on YouTube about how to make mead. It wasn't fancy at all; use a milk jug as the container, honey, water and baking yeast. So, I made my own batch of mead (only using higher quality, plastic containers). I made 2 gallons worth, an...

Re: The Thing

The Christians get their strength in the sense of community that their faith offers. I live in the South as well, and you can't go a few miles without seeing a Baptist Church. I believe if more Things were held, at least one in each state but hopefully more, that Heathens would start to get that sen...

Re: Greetings

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciation! On one side of the coin, I don't have a problem with my atheistic mentality; it's comfortable and it makes sense. On the other side, though, I've always had a deep ancestral pride and longing to be dedicated to the same creed that my ancestors were, a...
