Do we pass the horn to the right or to the left?

Does it matter? I believe that the important part of a samal is in the sharing, not in the direction the horn moves.

I don't think it matters but it came up in a discussion group so I wanted to know what others think.

From my experience with participation in rituals with different kindreds/tribes, everybody has their own way. The direction itself matters not, but some do it by their ranking among their kindred, some do men first and vice versa, some do boy-girl pattern, and some have no pattern at all it just depends where you're standing. The lores (to my knowledge) give no reference to horn direction, so therefore I take it as of little importance as posssible

we typically pass it clockwise but not for any reason, it just usually happens that way I've noticed. Our group does not have a thew when it comes to this.

Pass the horn - B~~~~r that get your own mead

8-) 8-)

actually left to right or clockwise as a rule but not always adhered to - depends if we get muddled and how many toasts we have made

We pass it to the right, because we pass the pipe to the left.
