Are oak trees sacred to Thor? If so, why? And how do we know ancient heathens associated oak trees with Thor?

Sacred trees are part of many cultures. The oak tree is considered sacred to Thor due to its size and power. In many aspects, a paradigm of Yggdrasil. That's all I know when it comes to hallowed groves.

It has been documented that raiding crews would toss a oak tree into the ocean for protection. I recall seeing this and reading about it. Though I am sure I saw it on a history documentary I cannot name any sources for reading at the momment.

They are sacred to Thor. We know this because they are struck by lightning more than any other tree.
