Political Party

Post by Bathilde »

Share your political party, and if you don't affiliate with one, share your political leanings.

As for me, I affiliate with the Modern Whig Party. I would consider myself a moderate, and some have told me I'm liberal, others have told me I'm conservative(which occurs when you're actually moderate). I've also been called a fence sitter.

Like Apollo said, everything in moderation.

There is a sense that heathens tend be more conservative than other pagans. Do you think this is true?

Thinking in terms of political parties is one of those rock-and-hard-place moments for me. I do not, and likely cannot, affiliate with a specific party which means I have a really hard time voting. Catch 22.

Personally, I can only reasonably look at things on a per-issue basis. For instance I would allow abortion (liberal) but be very lenient on gun control (conservative). I would keep government out of our personal lives as much as possible (Libertarian) and enforce a truly free market (Constitutionalist?) Issues, not parties.

I do think that we tend to be more conservative than other pagans (NeoPagans). Neo-Pagans, generally, are extremely and solidly liberal in all things. Except environmentalism. They tend to be downright totalitarian in that regard.

I don't affiliate with any particular party. If I were to label myself I'd call myself a Constitutionalist. I've been heavily influenced by the Libertarian and Jefferson Republican parties; but the latter does not exist where I now reside. Usually I vote Libertarian or Republican but I have been know to vote for the occasional Democrat.
