This is the mead thread. Post places to get mead, heathen mead makers, tips on brewing, and your favourite kinds of mead.

I'm not big on alcohol, but I can tolerate mead. Freyja's Golden Tears by J. Talkington(he's a cellarman of Dogfish Head Brewery) was pretty good.

I have yet to try some mead. Do I just mix honey in my beer? :P

Being a heathen in recovery, I don't partake in in drinking alcohol, so I'll take the inspiration, hold the mead.

I have not tried this kit yet, but I've tried their honey and it's awesome. I plan on buying a kit to try it after I get my tax return, and will post a review here after I've tried it.

All this talk about mead led me to buy a bottle of it today (yeah I know, commercial is nothing like homemade but it's fine in a pinch). I haven't made any for over 10 years but am getting the bug again to start making some. The last batch was essentially 10lbs of honey to 5 gals water using champagne yeast as suggested in of the "Joys of Home Brewing" books I have. Ended up a bit yeasty tasting, but with quite a kick...which meant after 2-3 glasses you didn't care about the taste  I was thinking about making smaller batches to see if I could make a better mead.
